F A Q

What sets Misfit Aerial apart from other places?

For starters, it's not a studio, it's a rentable venue for experienced instructors to provide classes and other services for their clients. When you spend money here, you are directly supporting your instructor's small business! Additionally, the space was purpose built with our members and their clients' safety at the forefront of our minds. This is evident from the minute you walk in. At Misfit, we do things differently.

Do you need to be in better shape before you start classes?

Absolutely not! Class is where muscles are built along with confidence and supportive friendships. Get your ass to class, that's where your journey begins.

Are there ways you can be better prepared for class?

Stay hydrated. Eat well. Practice good hygiene. Smelling like lavender and onions doesn't mix well with the fabrics and fellow classmates.

Will it hurt?

Yep! There's no sugarcoating it here, pole and aerial can hurt, leave bruises, rugburns, scrapes, and sore muscles, but this is often just part of the process from moving your body through new pathways. As strength and the pathways are built, the bruising subsides. That being said you should never "push through the pain". You know your body and its limits, and if you feel anything painful consult your doctor before continuing. There's no medals here.

What do you wear to an aerial class?

We recommend you wear leggings and a t-shirt. The fabrics and hoops can cause friction burns on exposed skin. It happens. But wear what you feel comfortable in, but NO ZIPPERS OR JEWELRY!

What do you wear to a pole class?

Wear whatever you want, other than ZIPPERS OR JEWELRY, you are your own person.  Exposed skin helps the body stick to the poles. Sometimes you may get rugburn on your knees, suck it up or get yourself some knee pads. Absolutely NO LOTION the day of class though. No one appreciates a slippery pole.

Are you a little better than everyone else now?

Yes, yes you are! You've become part of a very small, but growing community of people doing kick ass things with their bodies! Be proud and own that fact! The pole and aerial community is a minority amongst the fitness industry therefore it's very possible in a room of 100 people you're the only one who spends your valuable time upside down. That's pretty misfit in our book.

Is the equipment safe?

Safety for our members and their clients is our core focus. Misfit installed a custom fabricated all steel Modtruss modular system. All rig points are outfitted with Rock Exotica pulleys suspended over 6 ft x 6 ft x 8 in. thick aerial specific crash mats. No ladders needed for quick height adjustments and apparatus swaps! All the brass and stainless steel Lupit poles are both static and spin capable. We have crash mats for them too!

Are you allowed to record yourself or your child during a class?

With the permission of the instructor and other classmates, absolutely! Nothing tells the truth of hard work and progress made than a collection of videos and photos you've captured along the way.

Are the classes just for kids or women?

Each instructor has their own policies on this so it's best to reach out to them directly.

How do you sign up for a class?

It's as simple as reaching out to an instructor and going through their sign-up process.

What's the cancellation policy for a class?

Each instructor has their own policies. It's important that you discuss the policies directly with each one you conduct business with.
